Prevent

At Woodlands Primary Academy, we are committed to safeguarding our children and promoting their well-being. As part of our comprehensive approach to safety, we implement the Prevent strategy, which aims to protect children from the risks of radicalisation and extremism.

What is the Prevent Strategy?

The Prevent strategy is a key part of the UK’s counter-terrorism strategy, known as CONTEST. Its primary goal is to prevent individuals from being drawn into terrorism. In the context of our school, this means creating a safe and supportive environment where children can develop critical thinking skills and resilience against extremist influences.

Our Commitment

  • Education and Awareness: We educate our children about the dangers of radicalisation and extremism through age-appropriate lessons and activities. This helps them understand the importance of tolerance, respect, and diversity.
  • Staff Training: Our staff members receive regular training on the Prevent strategy, enabling them to identify and respond to any concerns related to radicalisation.
  • Safe Environment: We foster a safe and inclusive school culture where children feel valued and heard. This includes promoting open dialogue and encouraging children to share their thoughts and concerns.
  • Partnerships: We work closely with local authorities, parents, and community organisations to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding our children.

By integrating the Prevent strategy into our school’s policies and practices, we aim to create a secure and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
